I have seen that the company has some centers of excellence. To tell the truth, I did not pay them much mind. I am more concerned on the day to day issues for my project. However I know they have them.Recently I read an article that many companies are using testing centers of excellence. They attend to a number of testing jobs such as testing new features, testing service packs, and automating tests with scripts.
To stand up such a testing center of excellence, you need buy in from the top. There must be a well planned strategy from the start. Success depends on strong processes being followed. Don't forget good CMMi practices. I am going to check whether Booz has a testing center of excellence established.
